ShanghaiPRIDE Film Festival 2019

The 2019 ShanghaiPRIDE Film Festival (ShPFF) will run from June 8 to 16. The festival has evolved from an LGBTQ film screening night to a full-blown festival that supports emerging Chinese filmmakers while bringing cutting-edge international LGBTQ cinema to Shanghai.
We are bringing back the LGBTQ film marathon this summer by screening over 60 strong and inspiring LGBTQ films from more than 20 countries in the span of 9 days!

On the evening of June 18, the second Encore Screening of ShPFF 2019 returned to the venue of the Royal Danish Consulate General in Shanghai. ShanghaiPRIDE Film Festival 2019 which lasted for 11 days and more than 45 hours, covered LGBTQ film screenings, community dialogues and filmmaker talks has finally come to an end!

On June 14, the ShanghaiPRIDE Film Festival was held at the British Centre, where we had four short films presented by Australia, including Sammy the Salmon, Bloom, Black Lips, and This Perfect Day. After the short films, the Netherlands presented the documentary Galore.

ShPFF | Meet the Jury of the CN Short Film Awards

ShanghaiPRIDE Film Festival (ShPFF) received over 50 submissions for the Chinese Short Film Awards, and 34 made it to the final round of competition.

Submissions from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, USA, Singapore, Canada, UK, etc. are in the run for five awards, including Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, and Best Sound & Music. The jury is expecting the films to wow them!

ShPFF | 30 Days Before Submissions Close

Looking back at the 2018 LGBTQ films, many stood out and caught our hearts. We remember “Love, Simon”, one of the most popular films during the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF). “Sorry Angel” and “Girl” impressed the audience deeply during the Cannes Film Festival. We also saw some great Chinese films, such as “Dear Ex” which started a heated discussion online. We cannot stop talking about the Oscar Winners, including “Green Book”, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, and “The Favorite”. Let us not forget about the Teddy Jury Award Winner, “A Dog Barking at the Moon”.
