Since its founding in 2009, ShanghaiPRIDE has been an annual celebration of diversity, aimed to increase societal awareness of the LGBTQ community. The eleventh ShanghaiPRIDE, with the theme “同享彩虹 Share the Pride,” will take place from 08-Jun to 16-Jun. Through harnessing the power of our collective communities, we hope to spread the word further and make our voices heard.

What is ShanghaiPRIDE?
ShanghaiPRIDE, which began in 2009, is an annual festival that celebrates diversity. This festival is organized entirely by volunteers with the support of individuals, media, businesses, and foreign consulates. We aim to raise awareness and visibility, and to promote self-acceptance and acceptance for the LGBTQ community through sports, cultural, educational, and social activities. We also encourage the community and partners to support LGBTQ-related projects and initiatives. ShanghaiPRIDE promotes cross-cultural exchange locally as well as with LGBTQ festivals across the globe.
In 2014, ShanghaiPRIDE received Time Out Shanghai magazine’s “Shanghai Hero” award. In 2018, the organizers of ShanghaiPRIDE were awarded “Best Event Organizers” in Eastern China by Huodongxing. We have been featured on The Economist, CNN, Wall Street Journal and China Daily.
