Many said that life is like a movie, it is a form of language that showcases reality and touches souls. Every year during ShanghaiPRIDE Film Festival (ShPFF), we want to present diversity, and through these queer films, we not only share them with the community, we hope to reach out to more of the general public.
ShPFF, part of ShanghaiPRIDE, started in 2009 and was re-launched in 2015, continues to support new Chinese filmmakers and bringing the cutting edge of international queer cinema to Shanghai.
This year, ShPFF will screen the selected films on 11-June and 18-June as a two-full-day queer films marathon. Almost 40 films have been selected from 12 countries/locations all over the world. Some of the winning films of Berlin International Film Festival Teddy Award and BFI Flare London LGBT Film Festival will also have their premiere in Mainland China at ShPFF.

ShanghaiPRIDE LGBTQ Groups Open Day is back! The Open Day serves as a platform for groups throughout the country focused on all aspects of LGBTQ to get together for networking and experience sharing. It aims to raise awareness and advocate inclusion of LGBTQ in our society. Three years ago, we started with getting LGBTQ groups only from Shanghai. Now, we have groups from 13 provinces and regions.
The time is now to support the LGBTQ community in China. We’re asking everyone in the world to take more steps for diversity and inclusion. Support ShanghaiPRIDE, start walking! We want to collect as many steps as we can from everyone on the planet – that’s 7.5 billion steps! Please help us reach our goal.
Special thanks to Wunderman Shanghai!
QT Film Nights are back! This time, our topic is TRANS* (an umbrella term that refers to all of the identities within the gender identity spectrum) and we will watch “Real Life Test” a documentary by Florencia P. Marano. A total of 5 interviews dynamite the foundations of the dualism prevalent in society: men – women, homo – hetero, normal – weird… There are as many shades between man and woman as between black and white. Gender is a construct, tear it apart with us!
