The offline showcase of ShanghaiPRIDE 2017 Pride Art Photo Exhibition, with the theme of “The Time is Now 捕捉多元精彩瞬间 (to capture moments of diversity)” has drawn to a successful close. Shanghai, June 22, 2017—The ninth annual ShanghaiPRIDE festival on June 15-18 with auxiliary events in March, April, and throughout May and June brought together over 6,000 attendees under the theme “The Time is Now,” with a series of cultural, social, and educational events inspiring the community to love fearlessly, live openly, and promote acceptance and equality. The ShanghaiPRIDE 2017 Pride Art Photo Exhibition was officially launched at Henkes, Reel Mall on 16-June. All photos displayed this year were taken by allies and members of the LGBTQ community. Although the photographers have different professions, identities, and backgrounds, they share their feelings and understanding of the theme “The Time is Now” through a common channel – the camera lens. Queer Talks – Trans*

This week at QT Share, we are honored to have the founder of Trans Sanctuary (跨性别危机援助与咨询), Xue Xiaolin, share her views and experience as a Trans* activist in China. Hangzhou Trans Sanctuary provides shelters and medical resources for Trans* people in the community. This week at QT we will look at Trans* rights in China and the challenges that Trans* activists face.

This year’s theme for Pride Art photo exhibition, “The Time is Now 捕捉多元精彩瞬间 (to capture moments of diversity)”, is an extension to the main theme for ShanghaiPRIDE “The Time is Now”. The photos shown this year are all from the LGBTQ community and allies. Although everyone may have different jobs, identities, and backgrounds, they share their feelings and understanding of the theme through their camera lenses. If is not now, then when?MORE…    

Event Recap: ShPTF III – Tall Tall Mountain & Strange Birds

The third act of ShanghaiPRIDE’s Theatre festival began with announcements from One World Theatre’s Lelia and Ibsen International’s Fabrizio, theatrical groups that helped produce Tall Tall Mountain & Strange Birds as part of their Basement Play series. The audience were also warmly welcomed by ShanghaiPRIDE before this bilingual production began.

After 6 months of preparation, the ShanghaiPRIDE Film Festival 2017 opened on 11-June. There will be more than 20 hours of film screenings in 2 days. On the first day, ShPFF screened 12 films from different parts of the world. They were diverse and inspiring.
