Transgender people often see and experience gender in a way unlike the cis-world. They live through a range of expectations and roles from pre-transition to post-transition. But how do these experiences effect transpeople? How do gender roles and expectations persist and develop with the trans experience. And does “passing”, (the ability to be perceiced as cis) really matter? How does not “passing” affect the way a trans person is treated? Additionally, how do other traditional institutions like religion and media affect the way gender expectations and roles are created for trans people?
