ShanghaiPRIDE 2017 Pride Art Opens with Photo Exhibition

The Time is Now  捕捉多元精彩瞬间

The ShanghaiPRIDE 2017 Pride Art Photo Exhibition was officially launched at Henkes, Reel Mall on 16-June. All photos displayed this year were taken by allies and members of the LGBTQ community. Although the photographers have different professions, identities, and backgrounds, they share their feelings and understanding of the theme “The Time is Now” through a common channel – the camera lens. If not now, then when?

Over 100 guests came to the opening ceremony. They looked at the photos intently, trying to understand the message conveyed by the featured photographers while enjoying the wine and snacks sponsored by Henkes. Some of the photographers came to share their thoughts and stories behind their works.

Mr. Nicolai Prytz, Consul General of The Royal Danish Consulate General in Shanghai opened the ceremony with a speech. He introduced the history of the LGBTQ community in Demark and gave his support and affirmation to ShanghaiPRIDE.

Almost 40 photographers submitted their works and about 70% of the submissions were exhibited. We would like to give our appreciation to our community members for their heartfelt support of this event and other events of ShanghaiPRIDE.

Thanks to our sponsors and partners, we had a fun raffles draw as well.

There is also an online engagement for this exhibition. All works and captions can be viewed on the ShanghaiPRIDE official website shpride.com, and after the closing of the photo exhibition on 25-June, the works will remain on the website until 15-July.

To promote talents in the community, the audience will vote for the 3 most popular works of the exhibition, and the winners will be awarded cash prizes. Meanwhile, those who voted will have the chance to receive souvenirs. The list of winners will be published on ShanghaiPRIDE WeChat Official Account after the end of the online exhibition.
