【Recap】ShPTF – Psycho Beach Party
Urban Aphrodite partnered again with ShanghaiPRIDE Theatre Festival 2016 to present us a camp and provocative comedy, as a way to laugh through tears and bring light to the prejudice endured by the queer community.
Psycho Beach Party, set in 1962 Malibu Beach, tells us the story of Chicklet, a teenage girl suffering from a multiple personalities disorder who wants to learn how to surf and ends up becoming part of a hilarious surf crowd, going against the will of her peculiar mother.
From Thursday to Saturday (23-25 July), the audience burst into laughter, while sitting on beach towels and enjoying drinks from the bar.
Mixing beach party shenanigans with Hitchcockian thrills and interacting with a cheerful audience, Psycho Beach Party left us a play, or a party, that we will not easily forget.
